Granola, italian word originating from hypocoristic grano: cereal, wheat. It's a mix of cereal flakes, nuts, dried fruits and sugar (honey, sugar or syrup), baked till crunchy. Granola was invented in USA by dr. James Caleba Jacksona, later similar mix was created by american doctor John Harvey Kellog. At first this mixture was called Granula, later the name was changed to currently known Granola. Dr. Jackson's assumption wanted granola to be a healthy, wholegrain meal, however; with passing time granola became mass-produced article, not necessarily healthy one. This sold in shops contains the same amonut of sugar as some sweets, in addition many of them contains chemical substances. That's why if you want to eat healthy and light granola the best is to prepare it by yourself, and this is as easy as ABC :) .
